Rickshaws from one area will not be allowed to go to another area; strict rules coming
To reduce traffic congestion in Dhaka, DSCC is going to introduce new strict measures for rickshaw movement, including battery-powered rickshaws. The capital will be divided into several zones, and rickshaws from a specific area will only be allowed to operate in that area. No rickshaw can be operated in Dhaka without a license and registration.

DSCC Administrator Abdus Salam said that rickshaws from Demra will not be allowed to go to New Market. Restrictions will be imposed based on area and day. There will also be no opportunity to take rickshaws from Keraniganj or Demra across the river to other areas. Rickshaws from the north will also not be able to operate in the southern areas.

He said that after August 5, the entry of battery-operated rickshaws into Dhaka from various parts of the country has increased, which is putting additional pressure on the city. Work on framing the law is underway, and initiatives are also being taken to bring discipline to bus movement.
