Clash between garment workers and police in Mirpur, police vehicle set on fire
Clashes erupted repeatedly between police and garment workers protesting to demand a minimum monthly wage of Tk 30,000 in Mirpur of the capital. The clashes spread across various areas of Mirpur around noon today, Sunday (November 1). When police fired tear shells and sound grenades to bring the situation under control, the protesters set fire to a police vehicle in the Mirpur-11 area.

Eyewitnesses said that around 12 noon, chase and counter-chase began between the workers and law enforcement forces. At one stage, as the situation became heated, a group of protesters set fire to the police vehicle. The incident created extreme tension in the area and disrupted vehicular movement on nearby roads.
