BNP gives 31-point demands, fulfills up to 32-point: Home Minister
BNP announces an election manifesto and implements it. It gives 31 points and fulfills up to 32 points—that is what is called BNP, commented Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed.

On Saturday (August 15) afternoon, he made this remark at an event held at Osmani Memorial Hall for disbursing retirement benefits and welfare trust funds to teachers and employees of private educational institutions through nationwide EFT and IBS Plus Plus.

Highlighting the initiatives of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman in developing the education system, productive education and turning every student's hands into working hands, the Home Minister said that all initiatives, including technical education, were taken during his time. Mentioning that Khaleda Zia had introduced retirement allowances for teachers, Salahuddin said, 'There is the Teachers' Welfare Trust, and in addition, each one will receive five to seven lakh taka as retirement benefits. For a poor schoolteacher sitting in a village, this amounts to a very high income.'

He said, 'Sitting at home, his money is going into his bank account through the digitalised IBS Plus Plus method; he will not have to pay a single taka as bribe anywhere.'

The Home Minister said, 'Many people said yesterday that after two days the government's 180 days will be completed, what have you implemented? Go and see these, we have implemented. This was not in our manifesto. This is number 32.' Referring to the distribution of free school dresses to students as number 33, he said, 'I do not want to praise the Prime Minister, the nation will do that. But I want to remind everyone.'

He said, 'You have kept your word to the farmers. You have not forgotten poor mothers and sisters. You have given the family card. Our opposition said, "Keep your family card." Now they themselves are competing as to when they will give the family card.'

The Home Minister informed that in coordination with financial capacity, this card will be delivered to all mothers and sisters within the next four-five years. He said, 'With the money she receives, momentum will be created in the economy. Money circulation will happen. She will buy goods from the market; because of those goods, the chain industries will run and employment will also be created there. Those who take big loans may embezzle them, but when this money reaches poor mothers and sisters, she will spend it for the welfare of the family, and chain industries will grow.'

The Home Minister said, 'She will have financial capability, her sons and daughters will be educated, and they will become the country's assets. If you keep the poor poor, the nation will never be benefited, never be liberated.'

Highlighting other initiatives of the present government, he said that gradually all citizens of the country will be brought under necessary programs and they will get recognition. 'These will take Bangladesh towards sustainable development. We do not only believe this, we know this. The people of the country believe it.'
