Bangladesh doesn't know under what status Sheikh Hasina is in India
Notably, on August 5, a Bangladesh Air Force aircraft carrying Sheikh Hasina landed at Hindon Airbase in Ghaziabad near Delhi. That evening, she and her sister Sheikh Rehana were welcomed by India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. The next day, India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar told parliament that Sheikh Hasina had sought permission to come to India 'temporarily' and it was granted.
The Indian government has not yet clarified exactly under what 'immigration status' Sheikh Hasina is in India. Earlier, India's foreign ministry had said that Hasina was not allowed to use Indian soil for political activities. Bangladesh has already called upon India to extradite Sheikh Hasina.
