On Monday (12 October), after the judges of the High Court bench comprising Justice Md. Mojibur Rahman Mia and Justice Rezaul Karim signed, the two separate verdicts of 15 and 32 pages were published.
Earlier, on September 10, the High Court ruled dismissing two writ petitions filed by Grameen Kalyan. Lawyers said that as the writ petitions were dismissed, there is no longer any obstacle to collecting the income tax claimed by NBR.
According to case documents, two separate writ petitions were filed in 2017 regarding tax claims against Grameen Kalyan for tax years 2012-13 to 2016-17. After a preliminary hearing, the court issued a rule. Later, the new bench delivered a verdict dismissing the rule.
Earlier, on October 4, 2024, a High Court bench, on its own initiative, withdrew the previous verdict in this regard and sent the case documents to the Chief Justice. Later, the case was sent to a new bench for hearing.
In court, Barrister Abdullah Al Mamun and Barrister Fida M. Kamal argued on behalf of Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
