He said, if India extends a friendly invitation without vested interest, the government applauds it. But Bangladesh will not move forward if there is vested interest. Bangladesh believes in independence and sovereignty.

He made these remarks on Wednesday (August 19) after paying tribute with party leaders and activists at the graves of BNP founder and martyr President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital on the occasion of the 46th founding anniversary of the Volunteer Party.

Rizvi said, Bangladesh's relations with India will be on an equal footing. The BNP government will not consent to anything beyond this.

Rizvi expressed hope that the Volunteer Party would remain in the field to present to the people the various welfare activities taken by the government to implement BNP's election manifesto.

The BNP standing committee member also said that BNP leaders and activists will firmly tackle any conspiracy and obstruction.

At that time, Volunteer Party President SM Zilani and General Secretary Rajib Ahsan, along with leaders and activists, were present.
