Scale of Government's Failures Heavier in Six Months: Khilafat Majlis

The leaders also expressed concern that BNP wants to amend the Constitution through its own process, ignoring the majority people's verdict. However, the people want such reforms to the existing Constitution that would block all paths for the re-establishment of autocracy and fascism. To achieve this, the full implementation of the July National Charter and the referendum verdict is essential. This can be done through the formation of a Constitutional Reform Council, which would have the structural authority for fundamental constitutional changes. The majority of the people have already given that authority through their 'Yes' vote in the referendum.

We demand that the government, respecting the people's verdict, immediately take effective initiatives to form a Constitutional Reform Council in Parliament and fully implement the July Charter. At the same time, we strongly demand necessary steps to expedite the trial process of the July and Shapla massacres and other fascist anti-state forces.

The weekly central executive meeting was held yesterday at 7 PM at the central office in Paltan, chaired by Ameer of Khilafat Majlis Maulana Abdul Basit Azad and conducted by Secretary General Dr. Ahmad Abdul Qader. Those present included Naib-e-Ameer Maulana Ahmad Ali Kasemi, Joint Secretaries Advocate Jahangir Hossain, Muhammad Muntasir Ali, Dr. Mostafizur Rahman Faisal, Professor Md. Abdul Jalil, Organisational Secretary Advocate Mizanur Rahman, Professor Kazi Minhajul Alam, Publication and Information Secretary Engineer Abdul Hafiz Khosru, Legal Affairs Secretary Advocate Hafez Maulana Shaykhul Islam, Youth Affairs Secretary Towhidul Islam Tuhin, Dr. Abdur Razzak Asad, Khandaker Shahabuddin Ahmad, Mufti Abdul Haque Amini, Professor Maulana Azizul Haque, Maulana Saifuddin Ahmad Khandaker, Maulana Faruq Ahmad Bhuiyan, and Abul Hossain.
