The US State Department said it is working with the Department of Homeland Security to identify people who entered the United States on short-term visas and then applied for asylum.

However, even if visas are cancelled, those affected will not have to leave the US immediately. If their asylum applications are pending, their immigration status may be changed to another category.
AP reported that if the plan is implemented, it could be the largest single visa cancellation in US history.
