Mia Golam Parwar's call to avoid provocation and make the Long March successful

Mia Golam Parwar, secretary general of the party and former MP, gave this information at a press briefing held at the central office of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on Tuesday (August 25) afternoon. He said the top leaders of the 11-party unity, including Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer and opposition leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, will lead the long march.

Mia Golam Parwar said the long march will begin at 7am on September 5 from Dhaka's Shapla Chattar and end at Chattogram's Laldighi Maidan. Along the way, roadside meetings will be held at various important places on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway.

He said responsibilities have already been divided among various departments including reception, medical, transport, publicity and publications, information technology, volunteers, culture and administrative communication to make the programme successful. He also said more than a thousand vehicles may take part in the long march.

Saying that a meeting was held with the police administration on August 24 to keep the long march peaceful and orderly, he said the administration has been informed about the relevant route, roadside meetings and various places of the programme.

This Jamaat leader said measures are also being taken to ensure minimal disruption to the movement of common people. He said there is a plan for the long march convoy to move along one lane of the highway so that ordinary vehicles can use the other lane. However, he apologised in advance if there is temporary suffering anywhere because of the big programme.

Mia Golam Parwar said, “This is a peaceful and lawful political programme. The people of the country will make this long march successful without giving any scope for provocation.” He also sought cooperation from the administration, political parties, media and people from all walks of life.

At the press briefing, party leaders including Jamaat's Assistant Secretary General Dr. AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad, Central Executive Council member and Ameer of Dhaka Metropolitan South Nurul Islam Bulbul, Ameer of Dhaka Metropolitan North Md. Selim Uddin, and Publicity and Media Secretary Ataur Rahman Sarkar were present.
