Youth arrested over rape of 6-year-old child in capital

Deputy Police Commissioner Md. Akter Hossain of DMP's Media and Public Relations Department confirmed the matter on Friday (August 28).

Police said the incident took place last Wednesday afternoon in the area adjacent to Royal City Pocket Gate. Later, when the child fell ill, she was taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. On doctor's advice, she was later sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

After a case was filed by the child's mother, Shah Ali police arrested the accused, Sumon, from his residence during a raid on Thursday night.

Police said further legal action in this regard is underway.
