There is no alternative to social unity to save the young generation from the clutches of drugs: Mir Helal
State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin has called for building a united resistance irrespective of party and opinion to protect the youth and young society from the terrible clutches of drugs.

He made this call while speaking as the chief guest at an anti-drug rally organized by district police at the auditorium of the Bandarban Small Ethnic Groups Cultural Institute on Thursday afternoon.

The state minister said, "The goal is not just to control drugs, but to completely eliminate them from society. Drug is a silent killer that ruins the lives of promising youths and also has a devastating impact on families and society."

He said, "In the anti-drug fight, we cannot rely only on law enforcement agencies. Every family must become a fortress of awareness, and people from all levels of society must play their role from their respective positions."

Calling for increasing the involvement of youths in books, sports, culture and educational activities to keep them away from drugs, Mir Helal said, "In addition to taking strict legal action against traffickers to stop the supply of drugs, a social movement must be built in neighbourhoods to reduce demand."

The rally was presided over by the Superintendent of Police of Bandarban. The DIG of Chattogram Range, Chairman of Bandarban Hill District Council, Deputy Commissioner, senior administrative officials, public representatives, civil society representatives, teachers and journalists were present.
