The accident occurred on Friday morning when she was crossing the Mokamtala-Joypurhat regional highway in the Gopinathpur area of the upazila. Firoza, critically injured, was rescued and taken to Bogura's TMSS Medical College Hospital, where she died around 12 noon while undergoing treatment.

Relatives said Firoza Begum was a resident of Gopinathpur village. On Friday, she was crossing the highway to catch an auto-rickshaw to go to her eldest daughter's house. At that time, she was hit by the deputy minister's car.

Jakir Hasan, nephew of the deceased, said they consider the incident an accident and the family has no complaint. He said the accident occurred due to age-related carelessness while crossing the highway.

Shibganj thana officer-in-charge Shahinuzzaman said Firoza Begum's body was buried after Asr prayers on Friday.
