Running sleeper buses without permission illegal: High Court
The lawyer said, under the Road Transport Act, violating the prescribed technical specifications of a vehicle is a punishable offence. At the same time, no vehicle can operate on the road without a route permit.
He further said, the court has made clear that only BRTA-approved buses will be allowed to ply on roads. Since there is no permission to run sleeper buses, there is no scope for these buses to operate outside the rules.
