Arpita Das (26), an assistant teacher at Sunrise Grammar School in Patharghata of Chattogram city, died after being infected with dengue. She was pregnant at the time of her death. Her unborn child also did not survive.
She died on Friday while undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of Chattogram Medical College Hospital. After dengue was detected on September 6, she was first admitted to a private hospital. When her condition deteriorated, she was taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital on Thursday. There she was suffering from dengue shock syndrome.

Arpita's husband, Mithun Chowdhury, works at Chattogram Customs. Their first child was due in the second week of October.

In the latest report of the Civil Surgeon's Office of Chattogram, it was said that 10 people have died of dengue so far. Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Sajedur Rahman said that information about Arpita's death will be added to the next report.
