On Sunday (13 September) morning, while speaking as chief guest at a coordination meeting on law and order, drug and corruption control, and good governance at the Satkhira District Commissioner's Office, he said these things.
The Law Minister said, along with ensuring people's freedom of speech and expression, controlling character assassination and yellow journalism on social media is also being considered. For this, an initiative has been taken to amend the Cyber Law-2026.
He said public consultation on the amendment proposal has begun. Opinions are being taken from media editors and people from various professions. Journalists' suggestions will also be presented to the relevant committee.
Noting that strict action will be taken against political thuggery and extortion, the Minister said that party identity will not be considered in this regard. If any BNP leader also stands as an obstacle, action will also be taken against them as per the Prime Minister's instructions.
Earlier, the Law Minister exchanged views with judicial officials at the District Judge's Court. Later, he joined the coordination meeting of the district administration.
