He gave this information after a meeting with representatives of 26 ministries, divisions, and agencies at the Election Building on Thursday (September 17).
The Election Commissioner said the meeting discussed in detail the EC's action plan regarding local government elections. In the by-election to the Thakurgaon-1 constituency, law enforcement agencies will be deployed just as in a national parliamentary election.
On whether elections will begin in November—he said the information and data obtained from the meeting will be reviewed at the commission meeting and a final decision will be announced.
He said there are various examinations in November and December. Although some time is available in January, Ramadan and public examinations such as Secondary and Higher Secondary will begin after that. The Commission is planning to hold by-elections and local government elections within this schedule.
Earlier this month, the EC had announced plans to hold the vote in mid-November by issuing the schedule. A possible schedule for holding the Union Parishad elections in seven phases had also been given.
