Local residents Mahiuddin Sarkar Shimul and Lutfor Rahman called for the intervention of local MP Faridul Kabir Talukder Shamim and the relevant authorities to complete the road repair quickly. Anichur Rahman, panel chairman of Bhatara Union Parishad, said that the road has remained in a deplorable condition for nearly seven months. Administrative action needs to be taken quickly against the contracting firm.
Regarding the work stoppage, the contracting firm said that work was temporarily halted due to a stone shortage and the excessive price of bitumen. Even if there is a loss, efforts will be made to finish the work by December of this year.
Sarishabari Upazila Engineer Golam Kibria said that, urging quick completion of the work, the matter has been reported to the Additional Chief Engineer, Superintending Engineer of the LGED Mymensingh Division, and the Executive Engineer of Jamalpur. Higher officials will take necessary measures.
