After Tuhin was detained on Saturday (September 19) in connection with Oprotim's murder, Asadullah Sohag published a copy of the GD on social media and alleged that when he sought action against Tuhin, police had said that an influential leader of a political party was backing him. He also claimed that no action was taken at the time for this reason.
'Aided by an influential leader,' Tuhin got away with crimes before too
The complaint filed with the Officer-in-Charge of Sadar South Model Police Station contains information about the allegation of Tuhin taking away the motorcycle. In it, Mariam Akter is named as the complainant, and Md. Tuhin Hossain, along with two to three unidentified others, is named as the accused.
According to the complaint, on the night of April 26, 2025, Tuhin took the motorcycle from Sohag in front of Oli Mia's shop in the Salmanpur area. Earlier, on March 27, Sohag had purchased the Suzuki Monoton motorcycle for Tk 2,05,000 from a showroom on Bishworoad in Paduar Bazar. Since Tuhin was an acquaintance, he used to ride the motorcycle regularly. The complaint states that after taking the motorcycle on the day of the incident, it was never returned.

Regarding the matter, Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police of Sadar South Police Station, Mohammad Mostain Billah Ferdous, said that the police have also seen the copy of the GD on social media. Due to the investigation into the Oprotim murder case, it was not immediately possible to fully verify it. However, he said the matter will be verified in the interest of the investigation.
Police detained Tuhin around 3:00 pm on Saturday in connection with Oprotim's murder. Later, based on information provided by him and analysis of CCTV footage, two more individuals named Anas and Fahim were detained, police said. Oprotim's mother's iPhone was also recovered from Tuhin's home.
Oprotim, a seventh-grade student at Cumilla Border Guard Public School, had been missing since Friday (September 18) afternoon. His body was recovered from a secluded spot in the Sananda area of Sadar South on Saturday noon. Police said that after reviewing CCTV footage following his disappearance, Tuhin was seen with Oprotim. Later, based on questioning Tuhin, the other two were detained.
