It is learned that she was found hanging by the neck in a flat on the third floor of Building No. 5 of NAEM Bhaban under Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station on Sunday (September 20) evening. Upon receiving the news, members of law enforcement agencies reached the scene.

However, the exact cause of Mariam Khatun's death could not be confirmed immediately. Law enforcement agencies are investigating the incident.

Earlier, last July, MP Gazi Nazrul Islam came into discussion over the spread of a personal video on social media. Later, he was expelled from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on charges of moral turpitude.

Relevant authorities have said that detailed information will be known after completing the legal process and investigation into Mariam Khatun's death.
