Mechanical fault slows metro rail movement, crowds at stations

Due to delays in trains arriving, the number of waiting passengers increased on the platforms of several stations since morning. At various stations including Mirpur-10, Shewrapara, Agargaon, and Farmgate, more crowding than usual was seen. The pressure of office-bound passengers made the situation even more congested.

Because trains run at fixed intervals during normal times, many passengers use the metro rail as a fast and reliable transport during the capital's busy hours. As a result, even a slight delay quickly causes passengers to accumulate at stations, creating suffering.

However, no official statement has yet been received from Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), the organization operating the metro rail, regarding the mechanical fault. Detailed information is also not known about how long the slowdown will last or what measures are being taken to fix the fault.
