He said this on Thursday at a program for eye examinations and free eyeglasses distribution for drivers, held on the occasion of World Sight Day and Safe Road Day at the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) building in Tejgaon in the capital.
The state minister said that in road safety, the government, transport owners and workers, drivers, passengers and pedestrians—all parties must play a responsible role. Initiatives will be taken to bring drivers gradually under eye examinations and healthcare services.
He said the government's goal is to make the road transport system safer, more disciplined, modern, and people-friendly. For this, coordinated efforts of all relevant departments and stakeholders will continue.
Calling for organizing such programs on a larger scale in the future for road safety, Habibur Rashid said initiatives will continue to ensure safe roads for passengers, drivers, and all concerned by properly utilizing existing capacity.
