Kader Gani Chowdhury said that the media's loyalty will be to the truth and the people, not to any party or center of power. Democracy is inextricably linked with media freedom. At the same time, along with freedom, he called upon the media to play a responsible role and refrain from disinformation and rumors.
He said that opportunities have been created in the country to publish newspapers like mushrooms. Except for a handful of institutions, many media outlets do not have an institutional structure and are not paid regular salaries and allowances. This anarchy needs to be removed.
The BFUJ Secretary General said that during the previous government, the path of independent journalism was blocked. Currently, journalists are enjoying the highest freedom, and he expects this freedom to continue.
Addressing the government, he said that there is no reason to consider the media an enemy. The media will present the truth to the government, while others will at times tell success stories.
