He gave this information to journalists on Wednesday (September 30) after inspecting the construction work of the Kanchpur Bus Terminal. Initially, there is a plan to build temporary sheds and relocate long-distance buses of 16 districts, including Chattogram, Sylhet, Cumilla and Noakhali, to Kanchpur.

Long-distance buses from Sayedabad to move to Kanchpur soon: DSCC administrator
The administrator said traffic congestion will decrease as the buses will not enter the main city of the capital. There is also a plan to launch a special shuttle service for passengers traveling from Kanchpur to Sayedabad after discussions with transport owners. Meanwhile, the process of acquiring land to relocate Gulistan Bus Terminal to the other side of the Buriganga is underway.
The construction work of the terminal is underway in three packages at a cost of about Tk 50 crore. The overall progress of the project is 30 percent. Work on 75 percent of the boundary wall and 25 percent of the internal platform has been completed. If the weather remains favorable, the aim is to complete the initial work and launch the terminal by December.

On about 12 acres of land, this terminal will have capacity for 405 buses, 378 parking spaces, 22 bus bays, 5 washing bays and parking for 40 cars. In addition, arrangements have been made for a waiting room with 480 seats, 106 ticket counters, and separate toilets for men and women.
During the inspection, the DSCC administrator instructed the concerned engineers and contractors to ensure the quality of construction work and complete the work within the stipulated time.
