On a spot visit, it was seen that the banner had been hung in the place of a signboard related to the hospital's health services. It mentions Dr. Jamal Uddin's identity as BNP Upazila President as well as his candidacy for municipality mayor.
Questions have been raised over installing a banner containing political identity and election candidacy information in the place of a health service-related signboard inside a government health care institution.
Dr. Kamnashish Majumder, Ramgati Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, said he was not aware of the matter. No one had contacted him about it either. He also remarked that it is not appropriate to install political billboards inside a government hospital.
Hospital authorities said they had not been contacted in any way regarding the installation of the banner. As a result, questions have arisen over how the banner was installed inside the government hospital.
To seek comment on the matter, several calls were made to the mobile phone of Dr. Jamal Uddin, president of Ramgati Upazila BNP, but he could not be reached.
