The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) has seized 595 cartons of foreign cigarettes, 24.2 kg of banned Gauri Cream and 10 liters of foreign liquor during a raid at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The estimated market value of the seized goods is Tk 33 lakh 62 thousand.
On Friday (October 2), a raid was conducted at the airport based on secret information. Cigarettes and Gauri Cream were recovered after searching the baggage of five passengers on a flight from Colombo to Dhaka.

Customs intelligence officials said that 161, 149, 188, 88 and 9 cartons of cigarettes and a total of 24.2 kg of Gauri Cream were seized from five separate passengers.

In addition, 10 liters of foreign liquor were recovered after searching the baggage of Mubarak Hossain, a passenger on an Air India flight from Mumbai to Dhaka.
The Customs Intelligence authorities said raids at the airport are continuing based on secret information, passenger profiling and surveillance to prevent smuggling and the entry of illegal goods.
