According to Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) data, the eight months of trading this year is about 94 percent of the total trading of the whole of last year. In 2025, foreign investors’ total transactions were Tk 3,920.42 crore.
DSE Managing Director Nuzhat Anwar said preparations to upgrade the market from frontier to emerging market, communication with international index-setting agencies, simplifying foreign investment procedures and efforts to launch T+1 settlement are giving positive signals to investors.
He said the simplification of Bangladesh Bank’s Non-Resident Investors’ Taka Account (NITA) system has made money transactions and repatriation easier for foreign investors.
According to DSE data, in May foreign transactions were highest at Tk 831.70 crore. In February, Tk 663.28 crore, in June, Tk 540.17 crore, in July, Tk 523.15 crore, and in August, Tk 318.57 crore were transacted.
According to Nuzhat Anwar, the combined effect of transparency, accountability and professional management in the stock market, along with regular communication with foreign investors, is increasing their participation.
