Re-excavation begins to revive Dhanmondi Lake
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has started re-excavation and development work to restore the navigability and aesthetic environment of Dhanmondi Lake in the capital. On Tuesday morning, DSCC Administrator Bir Muktijoddha Md. Abdus Salam and local Member of Parliament and Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam inaugurated the lake re-excavation work.

About 162,534 cubic meters of sludge accumulated in the 3.10-kilometer-long and average 56-meter-wide lake will be removed. Two floating excavators and four barges will be used to remove about 700 cubic meters of sludge daily. The initial cost of this nearly one-year-long work has been estimated at Tk 26 crore.
