He said this while speaking virtually as chief guest at an exchange meeting and cultural programme organised on the occasion of the ‘Mymensingh Divisional Universal Pension Fair 2026’ at Mymensingh Circuit House Ground on Tuesday.
The State Minister said the Universal Pension system creates the opportunity to receive financial support later in life based on savings made through regular contributions while one is able to work. It has four schemes—Probash, Progoti, Suraksha and Samata. Any of these schemes can be chosen according to eligibility.
He said everyone must come under the Universal Pension system to secure their own future as well as that of their families. He also called upon family members, relatives and colleagues to join the system.
At the event, Member of Parliament for Mymensingh-4 constituency Md. Abu Wahab Akand Wahid said most employees and people of various professions do not have adequate future security arrangements after the end of their working lives. In this regard, the Universal Pension can play an important role.
With Additional Divisional Commissioner Azad Jahan in the chair, Joint Secretary of the Finance Division Sharif Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank's Mymensingh branch Arifuzzaman, and Executive Chairman of the National Pension Authority Dr. Md. Suratuzzaman spoke at the event.
Earlier, on the occasion of the Universal Pension Fair, a rally started from the Divisional Commissioner's office, paraded through various streets of the city, and ended at the Circuit House Ground.
