The decision was announced in a notification signed by Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Manzur Morshed Chowdhury on Thursday (October 8).
According to the notification, Tutul Chakraborty left his workplace before his approved leave began on November 13, 2025. On that day, identifying himself as the DIG of Rajshahi Range, he used the VIP lounge at Shah Makhdum Airport and traveled to Dhaka on a US-Bangla Airlines flight.
A departmental case was filed against him over the incident. The notification said that the misconduct allegation was proven in the investigation. Although a show-cause notice was served, he did not respond. Later, on the advice of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission and with the President's approval, a decision was taken to dismiss him.
The notification further said that Tutul Chakraborty has been absconding since January 23. The dismissal order will take effect immediately.
Tutul Chakraborty joined the police in 2001 through the 20th BCS. He served as Joint Commissioner of DMP, Additional DIG of Dhaka Range, and Superintendent of Police of Sirajganj and Cumilla.
