Washington made this decision in the interest of security after recent attacks on Saudi civilian airports and critical infrastructure.
US State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott confirmed the matter in a post on social media on Wednesday (October 21). He said that the Houthis' increasing attacks are causing civilian casualties as well as major disruptions to transportation. Therefore, this protective measure has been taken with the highest priority given to the safety of American personnel and their family members.
However, the spokesperson described as ‘false’ earlier reports that US embassy staff and their family members were also being evacuated from other countries in the Gulf region.
