40 Umrah pilgrims stranded by Riyadh attack return home
Forty Bangladeshi Umrah pilgrims stranded due to a Houthi rebel attack at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, have returned home safely. On Sunday (25 October) at noon, when they arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from Jeddah, Hajj Director Md. Lokman Hossain and Public Relations Officer Md. Farhad Ahmed welcomed them on the instructions of Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain (Kaikobad).

Under the overall coordination of the Religious Affairs Minister, it was possible to bring these passengers home. While staying in Saudi Arabia, the minister arranged, at his own expense, two days' food for these passengers who had fallen into trouble after not receiving their luggage, and arranged clothing and necessary medicines. In addition, after their return home, the Ministry of Religious Affairs arranged their hospitality at the airport and transport for them to reach their own destination, Sirajganj.

The Umrah pilgrims expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Tareq Rahman and the Religious Affairs Minister for their safe return home. Convoy leader Muallim Abdullah-Al-Mamun said that during the crisis, the Bangladesh Embassy, the Makkah-Madinah Hajj Mission and the Saudi authorities provided them with all-out support. It may be noted that seven Bangladeshi Umrah pilgrims injured in that Houthi rebel attack in Riyadh on October 10 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals there.
