Food Minister urges public-private coordination to ensure safe food
Food Minister Afroz Khanam has called for strengthening public-private partnership to ensure safe and nutritious food for all citizens. She made this call while speaking as chief guest at a seminar organized by Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) in the capital on Wednesday (28 October). The minister said food is a fundamental right of people. In particular, to meet the nutritional needs of vulnerable populations including women and children, the program of adding necessary vitamins and minerals to food must be further expanded. She stressed that for this, alongside government initiatives, the private sector and development partners should work in coordination.

Speaking as a special guest at the seminar organized by the Fortification Alliance of Bangladesh (FAB), the State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Mir Shah Alam, made an important proposal. He said that to make coordination and implementation of the activities easier, BSTI, the National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection, and TCB should be brought under the Ministry of Food.
