Project sources said this is the third shipment to arrive for the second unit of the power plant. Earlier, one shipment had arrived for the first unit. According to the plan of Russia's state corporation Rosatom, this nuclear fuel will be brought to Bangladesh by a total of nine cargo aircraft, including seven for the second unit and two for resupplying fuel to the first unit.
Meanwhile, last Thursday (29 October), the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority (BAERA) approved the start of ‘Power Start-up Stage-C’ activities at the first unit of the power plant. At this stage, the reactor's power will be increased and the performance of various equipment will be tested. If everything goes well, the target is to connect about 300 megawatts of electricity from the first unit to the national grid on a trial basis next November.
