State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock and Member of Parliament for Tangail-5 (Sadar) constituency Sultan Salahuddin Tuku rushed to the hospital late at night over the incident of rape and attempted murder of a six-and-a-half-year-old child in Tangail. At 12 midnight on Saturday (31 October), he went directly from Dhaka to Tangail Medical College Hospital and saw the child. At that time, he took responsibility for bearing all treatment expenses and assured that if necessary, the child would be taken to Dhaka for better treatment. He also instructed the police to quickly arrest the accused involved in the incident and bring them under the law.
State Minister Tuku said, this is an extremely heart-wrenching incident. He has talked at all levels of the administration to ensure the maximum punishment for the culprit. Law enforcement agencies are working in the field to quickly arrest the accused. Besides, he also said necessary steps would be taken to make Tangail drug-free. It is to be noted that on Friday (30 October) afternoon, an allegation of attempted rape of the child was raised in the Central Kalibari area of Tangail town. When the child screamed, the accused Biplob (22) hit her in the mouth and nose with a brick. In this incident, a case was filed on Saturday night on charges of attempted rape, attempted murder and serious injury.
