Following workers' protests, 5 platoons of BGB deployed in Gazipur
Five platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in Gazipur's industrial area following protests by garment workers demanding a minimum monthly wage of Tk 30,000, blockade of the Dhaka-Tangail highway and clashes with police. They have been deployed in Chandra, Palli Bidyut, Safipur, Konabari, Mouchak, Naozor and Bhogra Bypass areas to prevent any untoward situation.

Gazipur Industrial Police Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Amjad Hossain confirmed the matter this morning on Sunday (November 1). He said BGB members have already started working in these areas alongside the industrial police. Although five platoons of BGB have been deployed for now, the required number of members will work considering the situation.
