In a statement sent to the media on Thursday (November 5), he said that November 7 is a significant day in Bangladesh's national history. On this day in 1975, patriotic soldiers and the general public came down to the streets in unity with the determination to protect the country's independence, sovereignty and national interests.
In the current context, he said there is no alternative to national unity to thwart any conspiracy against democracy, freedom and sovereignty. Any ill attempt to push the country again toward fascist rule and authoritarian tendencies must be resisted.
He called upon all branches of Jamaat-e-Islami and patriotic students and people to observe the day with due dignity.
