Public anxiety has increased over the government's seven months of activities: ATM Masum
Maulana ATM Masum, central assistant secretary general of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, said the government has betrayed the people by not taking an oath to implement the July Charter. Because the government has run the country ignoring people's expectations, political and social instability is increasing.

He said these things while speaking as chief guest at a Rokon conference held on the occasion of the oath-taking of the district amir and the election of members of the district Majlis-e-Shura at the female students' campus of Chandpur Al-Amin Academy at noon on Saturday (7 November).

ATM Masum said anxiety has been created among the people by the seven months of activities of the current government. He claimed that 70 percent of the country's people voted ‘yes’ in favor of implementing the July Charter, but the government has not taken an oath to implement that charter.

He further said that in the current constitution Sheikh Hasina has been mentioned as prime minister; keeping this constitution in force, the current government has no moral right to stay in power. The government is practically legitimizing extortion—complaints have arisen that extortion is being collected at two to three times the amount compared with the previous government's time. Due to the rise in prices of daily necessities, the purchasing power of ordinary people has decreased; he also claimed that murders, robbery, and instability have increased in the country during this regime.

Raising allegations of politicization of the judiciary, he said the Election Commission is also implementing a party agenda. According to him, there is no possibility of free, fair, and impartial elections under the current government. He also mentioned that more than four hundred mills and factories have already been shut down.
