What may be included in the US-Iran agreement deal
Officials from both countries have reported progress in ongoing negotiations between Tehran and Washington to end the war between Iran, the US, and Israel. US President Donald Trump and later US Secretary of State Marco Rubio have spoken about progress in the talks. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bagheri also said last week that the positions of the two sides are getting closer.

The US-based news outlet Axios has published a report citing US officials on what could be included in this deal to end the war. It said the ceasefire period could be extended by another 60 days. At the same time, the Strait of Hormuz would be opened, and discussions on curbing Iran's nuclear program are ongoing.

# During this ceasefire period, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened. No tolls will be collected for ships passing through this important waterway for global trade. Additionally, Iran will remove mines from the Strait of Hormuz.

# The US will lift the blockade on Iranian ports. At the same time, Washington will provide some relief from the sanctions on Iran's fuel oil.

# Iran will pledge never to attempt to acquire nuclear weapons. Furthermore, the two sides will reach an agreement through further negotiations on Iran's uranium enrichment program.

# The US will allow Iran access to its various frozen funds.

# US forces will remain stationed in the Middle East region during the 60-day ceasefire. After a final agreement is reached, Washington will withdraw US troops.

The Axios report said the deal could be extended beyond 60 days based on mutual agreement. However, the BBC has not independently verified these reports.

Meanwhile, citing two US officials, the New York Times reported that the proposal also includes a commitment by Iran to abandon its enriched uranium.
