Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain has warned that the dengue situation in the country may become more severe in the coming July-August months. However, he also said that the Ministry of Health and the Directorate General of Health Services have taken necessary preparations to deal with the possible situation.

He said these things during an event organized at the Pathology Department of Dhaka Medical College in the capital on Thursday (July 2) afternoon.

He said that medical treatment alone is not enough to prevent dengue; increasing public awareness is also very important. To this end, people from various professions, including mosque imams at the union level, have been urged to keep the environment clean.

The minister further said that destroying mosquito breeding grounds and ensuring a clean environment are the most effective ways to control dengue. Therefore, in addition to government initiatives, active participation of the general public is also necessary to prevent dengue.
