Gold and silver prices increase
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has set new selling prices for gold and silver ornaments following an increase in the prices of pure gold and pure silver in the domestic market. The new prices became effective from Friday (July 3) at 10 AM.

This information was provided in a notice signed by Dr. Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen, Chairman of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring, on Friday.

The notice stated that in light of the increase in prices of pure gold and silver, a meeting of the committee reviewed the overall situation and unanimously set new prices.

According to the new prices, including VAT, the price per gram of 22-carat hallmark gold ornaments has been set at Tk 19,595. The price of 21-carat hallmark gold ornaments is Tk 18,715, 18-carat hallmark gold ornaments is Tk 16,070, and traditional gold ornaments is Tk 13,130 per gram.

On the other hand, including VAT, the price per gram of 22-carat hallmark silver ornaments has been set at Tk 420, 21-carat at Tk 400, 18-carat at Tk 345, and traditional silver ornaments at Tk 260.

BAJUS said that wages will apply separately based on the design of the ornaments. However, since VAT is included in the fixed selling price, no additional VAT can be collected from buyers.

Additionally, in the case of exchange and purchase of gold and silver ornaments, the previous rules will remain in effect, excluding VAT, wages, and stone prices. These new prices will remain effective in all jewelry establishments across the country until further instructions from BAJUS.
