Plan to use AI to make market monitoring more effective
The government has planned to use artificial intelligence (AI) to make market monitoring activities more effective, coordinated, and technology-driven. At the same time, initiatives are being taken to create a Power App and further improve the existing market monitoring app.

Commerce Secretary Md. Ataur Rahman Khan informed this at a workshop on 'Enhancing the skills of team leaders engaged in market monitoring' held at the conference room of the Ministry of Commerce on Sunday.

He said all institutions involved in market monitoring are working towards the same goal. Therefore, ensuring effective coordination, mutual cooperation, and the ability to make quick decisions at the field level is most important.

The Commerce Secretary said leadership must be skilled, timely, and result-oriented. Any lack of coordination at the field level must be quickly resolved, and market monitoring activities must be conducted in a disciplined manner.

He further said that under the direction of Commerce Minister Khondaker Abdul Muktadir, a Power App, an AI-based model for TCB activities, and the development of the existing market monitoring app will soon be undertaken to modernize the market monitoring system. Through this, field-level surveillance will become faster, more information-based, and more effective.

Special guests at the workshop included Additional Secretary (IIT) of the Ministry of Commerce, Shibir Bichitra Barua, and the Acting Director General of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate, Sebastian Rema, along with senior officials of the ministry and directorate.
