The Health Minister gave this directive on Monday (July 6) as the chief guest at an event organized by the Bangladesh Midwifery Society in the capital.
The minister said that all private clinics and hospitals in the country must have a labor room for normal deliveries. If this directive is not implemented within the stipulated time, the license of the concerned institution will be canceled and necessary legal action will be taken.
He further said that to ensure safe healthcare for mothers and newborns, hiring trained midwives will be made mandatory in every clinic and hospital. The government's goal is to reduce unnecessary cesarean operations and ensure safe normal deliveries.
The Health Minister warned that if the directive is not implemented within the stipulated time, the concerned clinics and hospitals will be closed if necessary. The government will not tolerate any kind of irregularities or negligence in ensuring safe maternal care.
