Prime Minister visits army summer exercise
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited the summer exercise of the Bangladesh Army. He suddenly appeared at the summer training area of the 8 Bir Unit under the 9 Infantry Division in Singair Upazila, Manikganj at 9:20 am on Tuesday (July 7) and observed various activities of the exercise.

The Prime Minister visited different parts of the training area on foot and was briefed by the responsible General Officer Commanding (GOC) and the Unit's Commanding Officer (CO) on training activities, tactical preparedness, and operational plans. He listened to an operational briefing from a commander and witnessed a 'raid' exercise conducted by the soldiers.

During the visit, the Prime Minister observed various aspects of soldiers' positioning on the battlefield, combat tactics, use of weapons, and realistic training. He went down into a military bunker and exchanged views with officers and soldiers participating in the exercise, and also spoke with soldiers in camouflage, encouraging them in their duties.

At one point, the Prime Minister ate food prepared for the soldiers participating in the exercise and had tea with them.

Later, in a speech to the soldiers, the Prime Minister said that the people of the country have deep trust in the Bangladesh Army. Praising the role of the force in tackling national crises and maintaining law and order, he emphasized maintaining professional training, discipline, and maximum preparedness. At the same time, he wished for the continued success of the Bangladesh Army.

During the visit, the Prime Minister's Defense Adviser Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. A K M Shamsul Islam, Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman, the Prime Minister's Military Secretary Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq, and other senior officers of the Bangladesh Army were present.
