Commerce Secretary calls for fostering a culture of harmony and accountability
Commerce Secretary Md. Ataur Rahman Khan has urged everyone to work collectively to foster an environment of harmony, mutual respect and trust among the officials and employees of the Ministry of Commerce. At the same time, he emphasized ensuring a disciplined, transparent and accountable work environment.

He made these remarks as the chief guest at the assumption of office ceremony of the newly elected executive committee of the Cultural and Welfare Council held at the conference room of the Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday.

Congratulating the newly elected committee, the Secretary praised the contributions of the outgoing committee members. He said the Cultural and Welfare Council is an important platform for democratic practice, member participation and building a positive work culture.

He further said the responsibilities of the council are not limited to cultural events. Ensuring cooperation, harmony and a healthy work environment among officials and employees is also one of the objectives of this council. If any problem arises in the workplace, there should be an opportunity to resolve it quickly and constructively through elected representatives.

The Commerce Secretary said the activities of the ministry are very important for the country's economy and commerce. Therefore, everyone must perform their respective duties by maintaining professional honesty, transparency and accountability and following the laws and regulations.

It is noteworthy that 14 members of the Cultural and Welfare Council were elected in the biennial election held on June 29. Responsibilities of the new committee were distributed based on the proposals of the elected members. Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Prabanshu Mahan Som and Personal Officer Md. Shawkat Hossain assumed the roles of President and General Secretary respectively.

At the event, Administrative Officer Md. Abdul Majid and Cash Officer Md. Shafiq Uddin were honored on the occasion of their retirement.

Additional Secretaries of the Ministry of Commerce Ayesha Akhter, Khadija Naznin, Shibir Bichitra Barua along with officials and employees of various levels were present at the time.
