Sarwar Alamgir takes oath as MP in presence of Prime Minister
Sarwar Alamgir, the victorious BNP candidate from the Chattogram-2 constituency, has taken oath as a member of the National Parliament. Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed administered the oath at the National Parliament around 7:00 PM on Thursday (July 9). Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was present at the time.

Earlier, the Election Commission Secretariat announced in a notification that the gazette containing the name and address of Sarwar Alamgir as the elected Member of Parliament from the Chattogram-2 constituency in the thirteenth national parliamentary election was published on July 9.

On the same day, the High Court declared the Election Commission's decision to cancel Sarwar Alamgir's nomination paper illegal. The bench comprising Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Md. Asif Hasan delivered this verdict.

In the verdict, the court stated that there is no longer any legal obstacle to Sarwar Alamgir taking oath as a Member of Parliament.
