According to EC instructions, individuals born on or before July 31, 2008 will be eligible to be included in the voter list.
Voter list update schedule:
August 9: Publication of draft voter list
August 24: Last day to submit claims, objections, and correction applications
August 27: Last day for disposal of applications
August 28: Final decision on objections and corrections
August 31: Publication of final voter list
Currently, the total number of voters in the country is 12 crore 83 lakh 23 thousand 240. Among them, male voters are 6 crore 52 lakh 12 thousand 731, female voters are 6 crore 31 lakh 9 thousand 266, and hijra voters are 1 thousand 243.
Election Commission officials have said that local government elections are likely to be held in October. As part of that preparation, the voter list is being updated and finalized.
