Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Opposition Leader in Parliament Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has alleged that neighboring India is continuously engaging in provocative behavior at the border. He commented that although the government remains silent on this issue, the people and border guards are building resistance.

Criticizing the government, he said that no visible response has been received from the government regarding the border issue so far. He urged the government to take a stance considering the expectations of the people and national interests. At the same time, he advised learning from past political history.

He further said that various pressures are being exerted to make them withdraw from their demand for a referendum. However, they will continue their movement to keep their promise to the people and remain uncompromising in their demand for implementing a referendum.

Speaking on the Teesta issue, the Jamaat Ameer said that although development plans centered on the Teesta River were promised before the elections, no effective allocation has been made in the current budget for this matter. He said that not just promises but concrete steps are needed to resolve the long-standing suffering of the people of the Teesta region.
