She made these remarks on Saturday (July 11) at a discussion meeting titled 'Post-mass uprising politics: crisis, possibilities and ways forward' organized by the National Socialist Party (JSD) at the Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall of the National Press Club.

Rumin Farhana said, 'In the mass uprising of 2024, people risked their lives for the last time. But later, when they saw that it had become the personal property of a few individuals, that it had created a new ground for the rise of extremism, and that some people had become owners of vast wealth in a short time, then naturally, before participating in any mass uprising in the future, people will think a thousand times.'

She said, during the mass uprising, women of all kinds—those wearing hijab and those not wearing hijab—participated together. But why the environment of coexistence could not be maintained after the uprising is an important question.

Rumin Farhana also questioned why the vandalism of murals and sculptures of the Liberation War occurred immediately after the mass uprising, and why the Liberation War of 1971 and the mass uprising of 2024 were pitted against each other.

She alleged that the rise of extremism has occurred in the country in the post-mass uprising period. She claimed that if such a situation had been known earlier, many people would have reconsidered their decision to participate in the movement.

In her speech, she said that even after the partition of 1947, the Liberation War of 1971, and the mass movement of 1990, the people of the country did not get the expected results. According to her, the common people of the country have repeatedly made sacrifices, but in the end, they have been betrayed.
