The meeting was presided over by Principal Maulana Zainul Abedin and moderated by Dr. Muhammad Khalilur Rahman Madani, with former religious affairs adviser Professor Dr. A F M Khalid Hossain as the chief guest.
Special guests who spoke included Secretary of Talimul Quran Foundation Maulana Abdul Halim and Islamic scholar Mufti Kazi Ibrahim.
Additionally, speeches were given by former Member of Parliament Principal Maulana Moshiur Rahman, Deputy Amir of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Maulana Ahmad Ali Kasemi, Secretary General of Bangladesh Khilafat Movement Mufti Fakhrul Islam, Amir of Muslim Janata Oikya Parishad Maulana Azizur Rahman Aziz, Choto Huzur of Charsina Darbar Sharif Maulana Shah Muhammad Arif Billah Siddiqui, and leaders of various Islamic organizations.
Scholars, academics, and religious figures from different regions of the country were present at the meeting.
The speakers said that during the July movement, scholars played an outspoken role against injustice and oppression from mosque pulpits, religious gatherings, meetings, and social media. They stated that many scholars faced attacks, lawsuits, imprisonment, and various forms of persecution during the movement.
The speakers further claimed that scholars and madrasa students had a significant contribution to the movement, and the nation will remember their role.
From the discussion meeting, the speakers called for giving importance to the opinions of scholars on various important issues of state governance in the post-July period. At the same time, they urged the government to involve scholars in nation-building and take effective steps to implement the July charter.
