July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum awaits Prime Minister's approval
Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury has said that the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum, established to preserve the memories of the past 18 years of misrule and the mass uprising of August 5, 2024, will be officially inaugurated very soon subject to the Prime Minister's approval.

He disclosed this information during a press conference organized at the meeting room of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs on Tuesday (July 14) afternoon.

State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Newaz Mahmud Khaiyam, Cultural Affairs Adviser Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman, and Secretary of the Ministry Ms. Kaniz Mowla were also present at the press conference.

The Cultural Affairs Minister said that the initiative to establish the museum was taken with the aim of preserving the history, sacrifices, and memories of the mass movement of the 2024 mass uprising. After the current government assumed office, necessary structural and legal amendments are being made to give the project a more permanent and institutional form.

Explaining the delay in the museum's inauguration, he said that a board of directors has already been formed for its management. However, it has taken some time to ensure a permanent manpower structure, organogram, and necessary administrative approvals for full-scale operation.

The minister informed that the first meeting of the newly formed board of directors will finalize matters related to manpower recruitment within the next day or two. Subsequently, the date for the museum's inauguration will be announced subject to the Prime Minister's convenient time and approval.

At the press conference, Cultural Affairs Adviser Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman said that to spread the spirit of the July Mass Uprising across the country, institutions under the ministry will organize various cultural events, exhibitions, and competitions starting from July 15.

He said that July 15 is an important day in the history of the mass uprising. The sequence of events on that day further accelerated the subsequent movement. He sought the cooperation of the media to make the programs organized on this occasion successful.
